Quite close to the lighthouse are palatial Tredegar House (lake and craft shops in its grounds) and romantic little Castell Coch ('the red castle').
Also well worth visiting are the Roman city of Caerleon, and the castles of Caldicot, Chepstow, Raglan, Cardiff, & Caerphilly. Check their websites for events.

The Transporter Bridge which cost £3m to restore is currently open after a long period of closure.

Bird watching or Fishing
For those interested in a spot of bird watching or like to fish, we have a holiday mobile home perched on the sea wall, a couple of yards from the sea!
We have loads of visiting birds along the estuary to make your stay interesting. Visit the bird sanctuary site in Newport Gwent for more information. Wetlands Reserve has a new visitor centre.
There's fishing at Peterstone Lakes in the village and at Cefn Mably on 01633 681101. Recently someone caught a 14lb and 12oz rainbow trout there. They both have fishing competitions regularly and there are also fishing events on the foreshore near the lighthouse.
Newport Gwent was host to the 2010 Ryder Cup. We are only 20 minutes' drive to the Celtic Manor. There are many golf courses nearby. Peterstone Golf course is on the same road as the Lighthouse, a couple of miles away. We have also negotiated discounts with the local golf courses. Partners who are not into golf can be pampered with the many therapies on offer.

There is a great trail at the Cwncarn forest drive, a few miles from the Lighthouse. Wonderful views and old Celtic burial chamber at the top.

14 locks at J.25 of the M4. Follow signs for Rogerstone, and the 14 locks is signposted. New visitor centre. Long walks along the locks. About 15 mins from us.
The Wetlands Reserve also has different walks to suit everyone, which is about 15 mins away.
Cwncarn Forest drive near Crosskeys, from J28 is about 20 mins away. There is a 30 minute walk and a 3 hour walk .

Get pampered with lots of therapies. We can sleep up to 16 in the lighthouse, yurt and the mobile home on the sea wall. You can be picked up by the local pub as a group and the food is good there.

You can organise a barbecue on the roof garden, watch the ships go by, soak in the hot tub with your favourite tipples, and if you are lucky, you can even catch a few falling stars.
